Pet Health Tips

With everyone concerned about health this year I just wanted to mention a few things to think about when it comes to the health of your pet.   Guacamole is always a favorite at parties and during football season, however it can be toxic to your pet.  Avocados contain persin which can cause vomiting and diarrhea and can even be fatal.  Never let your pet lick out the guacamole bowl.   Macadamia nuts can be fatal as well.

A steady diet of dog food or tuna made for humans can cause malnutrition in a cat.   You should also never feed your dog or cat onions, chocolate or caffeine.  These things can cause your animal to be sick and could be fatal.   Milk and cheese can upset your cat or dogs digestive system and cause diarrhea.

Did you know giving grapes or raisins to your pet can cause kidney failure, and that gum or candy can cause liver failure?   I have seen people give their dogs a drink of beer.  Even a small amount of alcohol can cause liver damage or death.   Unless advised by a vet you should never give your pet medicines designed for humans.

For a happy and healthy pet, always consider the possible consequences and keep your pets safety in mind before giving anything not designed for your dog or cat.
